The seed from which the UNCUT music project developed is the forest. The artist and musician Cătălin Rulea started in 2017 to record the unexploited forests in Romania. In 2020, together with the sound designer Cătălin Matei, he phonically explored the forests of national importance through stereo and 360 (ambisonic) recordings, made in the areas of Ciucaș, Făgăraș, Neamț, Danube, Râșnov, Bârnova.
These recordings were used by bands such as Coma, Moonlight Breakfast, Pixels, and artists such as Mihai Iordache, Alex Munteanu, Alexandru Nechifor, Tudor Popescu, Andrei Nagy.
The forest makes itself being heard, so let’s listen to it at #smidajazz2021.
P.S. The recordings are archived on the uncut.ro platform.
