Inertia Movement [RO]

Inertia Movement is a project dedicated to local, western, and so-called exotic musical reflections, rhythms, sound culture, and electronic music. It started in Dublin around vinyl culture, an exercise in exploring rich musical universes, and continues in 2021 at Smida.

DJ, journalist and producer, Imocean Ki (Ciprian Ocean) is a talented collector of contexts and music, an explorer of rhythms and sound timbres, so a communicator of these musical universes.

ROTP #9, an Inertia Movement podcast, presents the sounds of local or migrated American-Latin rhythms in a reinvention context such as the Fania Records example in New York. The odyssey of the classical jazz singer who follows the path of local identity in the new environment, the dramatic reinvention of music but from which came the rhythms and “the genres we know today: boogaloo, reggae, etc. The pandemic has affected this free movement of the artist in the last two years, therefore the eighth edition of “Records of the People” will be dedicated to these freedoms that cross borders, genres or constraints in a summer spirit dedicated to cumbia, boogaloo- boogaloo, calypso, reggae and other returned musical spaces.
